The 2015-2016 NBA Season is about to reach its halfway point, with the All-Star Weekend set to go down in Toronto. While we wait with high anticipation for what the weekend of February 12th-14th will have, with the dunk contest, the 3-point shootout, celebrity games, and so much more in store, today we take a chance to check out the best of the best in the NBA. After watching Stephen Curry put together quite an impressive performance once again last night against the San Antonio Spurs, we couldn’t help but think that he will once again win the coveted NBA MVP Award this season.
I mean this dude is lights out anywhere on the court, and in nearly aspect of the game. His stats prove it, his game shows it, and his determination to get better, and to make those around him better shows of his true superstar potential. The 2015-2016 Season may just be halfway over, but with a record of 41 wins and just 4 losses, it looks like a potentially record breaking season for all involved. Not only is his team having a record breaking year, but Steph Curry is having the best year of his career so far as well!
First let’s take a look at his stats. For the season thus far Stephen Curry is shooting a 51% field goal percentage, 46% from behind the line; incredible! He’s also averaging over 30 points per game to go with nearly 7 assists, 2 steals and a free throw percentage of just below 92%. Not only has he himself elevated his game play, but those of his teammates as well, with Draymond Green getting a series of triple doubles recently in his best season yet. Steph is certainly showing off his superstar level of game play once again, getting everyone involved and making it look so damn effortless in the process! While his game play on paper is almost video game worthy, to watch him on the court is much of the same.
Sure, we’ve all seen players who bring in the stats, but don’t do so with such a brilliant grace and effortless appeal. Sure, there was Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and even Lebron James, who have the ability to score in any way possibly, but with Steph it’s different. His stats are not only impressive, but his game play is really what sets him apart from the rest. Certainly not the biggest guy on the court, he plays with this cool, calculated dedication and precise drive that is dangerous and undeniable. We’ve seen him countless times against some of the best defenders and defenses in the league, simply making them look foolish, look lazy, or just out plays them. We’re watching something special on the court every time we watch Steph and the Golden State Warriors play, and it’s rather great to watch! While you don’t have to be a fan, it’s certainly an enjoyable game to watch when he is apart of it.
Yes, Stephen Curry makes it all look so simple; which certainly helps to add to his charm for the NBA MVP Award. But it’s more than that, it’s also his hard work he puts in, his dedication the game, his dedication to being a positive leader and role model, and exemplifying that on the court. His stats are nice, his game play is seamless, but his worth ethic and hunger is what pushes it all. We’ve all heard about the pre-game warm ups, we’ve seen the videos of the crazy trick shots in practice, but it’s all about the little things that Stephen works on that makes his game so seamless; that makes him an MVP. His ability to score in any circumstance, his ability to create something from nothing, to shake defenses, find his teammates and more all comes the work ethic and drive to be better. Stephen Curry shows us exactly what an NBA MVP should look like.
Last season after watching him take over the NBA Finals, it was obvious we we’re watching someone special. It was apparent that the game was changing due to his way of playing, his dead-eye shooting abilities and his cold, clutch performances. Steph Curry last season showed and proved that working hard can take you to the top, and this year he’s elevating his game again. He’s again showing us a higher level of play then we’d seen, he’s bringing brilliant talent, clean game play, and undeniable charisma to the game; and he’s doing so with an outstanding attitude in the process. If it isn’t apparent already from the stats, or the season his squad his having, Steph Curry certainly deserves some more hardware! Steph Curry definitely deserves the 2015-2016 NBA MVP trophy; already!
